The Word of the Week

“To Worship God: “An Engaging Encounter”

September 21, 2017
THE WORD for the WEEK
Title:  “To Worship God: An Engaging Encounter”                                9/17/17
Behold, I saw a door opened in heaven: and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me…sayingCome up here, and I will show you what must happen after this. Instantly, I was in a Spirit and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it…as brilliant as gemstones. “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty-the one who always was, who is and who is still to come”…they worshipped the one sitting on the throne…For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased”   Revelation 4:1-11     NLT
The apostle John is the author of the WORD this week in Revelation and it was written 95 A.D. from Patmos Island. Due to his faith, the Roman authorities had exiled him to Patmos, near Asia. You may recall that John was close to Jesus, had seen him crucified and witnessed Jesus appearance after his resurrection. John was an eye-witness to the mission of Jesus, the God-man who gave his life completely so that all might live. John wrote this book to give hope to believers that our Lord is King and Messiah. The victorious Lord Jesus will surely return to vindicate those who live right and judge those who are the wicked and choose to live their own way. During John’s timing and likewise today, some churches have lost their vigor and believers have lost their loyalty and commitment to seek to hear God and live in righteousness.
In the above verses John had a vision of the glorified Christ God and the vision revealed what would happen in the future. In the vision, John shares a glimpse of Heaven before showing us judgements on earth. John shares that Jesus was in the throne room of heaven and orchestrating everything keeping it in control. The world is not spinning out of control for real; yet, the creator God will carry out His plans as Jesus Christ initiates the final battle at the end of times. Stay tunes to next weeks lesson on the WORD for the WEEK to hear more about the story.
