THE WORD for the WEEK
Title: Determined Disciples 11/1217
“Then to the Disciples, Jesus said, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me”. Matthew 16:24 NLT
At this time Jesus had called the people who were following him, with his Disciples to rebuke their beliefs. No one is compelled to follow Christianity but if wished for, the condition requires submission. Jesus knew they were thinking of a temporal kingdom, worldly riches, honors and pleasures. He took this opportunity of preaching the doctrine of the cross to them; to let them know that persecutions, sufferings and death must be planned for and expected; and, they were expected to endure it all, as Disciples. Someone quoted once, “Take up your cross DOES NOT just mean a flat tire incident or falling down stairs or bad luck; take up your cross means something you choose and then intentionally purpose it to advance God’s Kingdom.” Truth be told, This is the mission of MED-LIFE-FIT:
To help make healthy Temples and Disciples.
The Disciple is to deny his whole self, all his natural motives and impulses, so far as they come into conflict with the claims of Christ. If self-denial is a hard lesson, (in a natural way), it was no more difficult than Jesus, our Master learned, taught, practiced and to which redeemed us (in a super-natural way). The doctrine also tells us, there is nothing sweeter than following the calling of purpose on your life. Christ will lead us through sufferings, to glory with him.
There are three points which belong to the character of a true disciple: 1) Self-denial, 2) Carry your cross, daily, and, 3) Follow Jesus. So, we are comforted to know that in our zeal to follow, Christ has gone before us and in His strength, we will be strong. Do you know your calling and purpose for being granted a life to live? You can start by being a faithful reader of His WORD.
We, at Med-Life-Fit encourage Faithful believers to hold-fast to your faith, one day at a time. Your purpose is greater than your personal dream; and to know this deeply in your soul and spirit, you must begin with God. Obey God, even the small details of your life. Try talking less and listening more, doing your best!
